In this article I have set out an overview of the four simple steps required to get your internet business started. I will explore each in further detail on separate pages which you can jump to at the end of the page.
Step 1
Choose an interest or what is commonly referred to as a niche. This is arguably the most important part of the process because like selecting a career it carves out the path for which you will be spending most of your time creating content for. Luckily, the best niche is the one that interests you the most as there is money to be made in every conceivable niche out there! Your niche can be anything from baking cupcakes to basketball coaching tips for kids. You will soon realise that it doesn’t really matter what niche you select so long as it is, in fact a niche. An example of something that is not a niche is something like cars or health. You cannot possible set up a generic website about cars and hope to get page rankings. On the other hand, a website about vintage cars during the great depression is a niche.

Step 2
Build a Website. Sounds complicated right? Well it used to be way back when the internet boomed and everyone was rushing to get a piece of the action. Knowledge of HTML was required then which made it infinitely more inaccessible to your average Joe Bloggs. In this day in age however, you can quite literally build a website in less than 30 seconds. Think I’m lying? Read my article on Build Your Website and watch the video. It really is that simple and you should not fret over this aspect of the process. Its arguably the easiest part (or the least important!).

Step 3
Get rankings and page visitors i.e. traffic. This is where the real challenge comes. The process that goes behind step 1 and and step 2 is all geared towards achieving step 3. Choose an interest and build a site around specific keywords that will get you page rankings in the major search engines. In a nutshell, page rankings result in traffic. And traffic = money. Its as simple as that.

Step 4
As touched upon above, traffic equals money. There are various ways that you can monetize your site and I have written an article covering this very aspect – see Monetize Your Website. In essence this ranges from selling affiliate products related to your sites content, to placing ads on your site using something like Google Adsense.
